BigHat Biosciences is looking for a motivated and energetic Protein Scientist with a strong background in high-throughput cell-based production to further advance BigHat’s platform for AI-driven antibody discovery and engineering.

Job responsibilities:

• Onboard mammalian expression in high-throughput for the rapid scale-up of antibody clones at 50-100 ug scale
• Design, develop, and execute production workflows for high capacity and rapid turnaround times with the use of minimal linear expression cassettes, in vitro DNA amplification, and/or automation
• Expression of various antibody formats, including fragments, IgGs, novel fusion proteins, and bi- and multi-specifics
• Development and execution of high-throughout affinity purification techniques
• Analytical characterization of purified proteins for affinity, purity, and thermostability using BLI, ELISA, HPLC-SEC, CE-SDS, and DSF
• Evaluation and incorporation of emerging technologies for higher yield, increased speed, and/or decreased COGs

Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams and external service providers and collaborators to ensure timely completion of deliverables

Preferred qualifications:

• Ph.D and at least 2 years of hands-on working experience in protein sciences related to expression and purification, preferably with antibody molecules using Expi293 or ExpiCHO cells
• A strong molecular biology background and demonstrated expertise in setting up high-throughput workflows
• Prior innovation in mammalian expression for increasing yield, speed, or throughput
• Appetite for learning and using new tools and technologies to support core responsibilities and cross-functional communication
• A strong can-do mentality and desire to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment
• Nice-to-haves include prior experience with cell-free extracts, protein engineering, or automation
